TERM 1, WEEK 7, 20TH MARCH 2019.

Dear Parents & Guardians

Harmony Day

A big thank you to all families who contributed to a shared Harmony Day morning tea today. It was wonderful to see the colourful array of traditional clothes and scrumptious food which provided a great atmosphere to share each other’s company. Our students are immersed in cultural diversity. This is very enriching for their lives and teaches them acceptance and tolerance which if the world had in spades would be such a different place to live. The future is in our children’s hands!

Swimming Lessons

Students in Years 1-6 will participate in school swimming lessons at Bayswater Waves for two weeks between Monday 1st April until Friday 12th April (last day of term). The school is covering the cost of pool entry, lessons and bus transport as we value the opportunity for all children to gain confidence and swimming ability as an essential life skill. Please ensure that your child has their bathers, goggles, towel, rashy vest (optional) and suitable footwear (thongs, slip-ons or sandals) in addition to their regular uniform for each weekday. Bathers can be worn underneath the school uniform if desired. Please ensure all school uniform and swimming attire is labelled with your child’s name (particularly goggles).

Parent-Teacher Interviews

Parent interviews will take place on Monday 8 & Tuesday 9 April for all students from Pre Primary to Year 6 between 3pm and 6pm and at other times as offered. Each teacher will set their own timetable to which parents and guardians can nominate their preferred meeting time of 10 minutes duration. It is a valuable opportunity for the teacher to provide you with feedback on how your child has settled in to their new year level and progressing to date. Please look out for communication from your child's teacher on booking a time to catch up.

The school will soon be trialling an electronic newsletter which is app based and can provide parents and guardians with the convenience of having the newsletter delivered straight to your phone or email. The app will have various other functions including a language translator, notes for absences, school calendar, links to our school website and other contact details. After the trial we will evaluate whether this is the way forward for our school community in terms of communicating most effectively. In the meantime, in order for us to deliver the newsletter in this manner, please use the tear off slip on Page 2 of this newsletter to provide your current email address/es to the school office as soon as possible so that we can ensure all parents are able to receive the electronic newsletter when it commences.  Please provide your feedback when called on.

Easter Raffle

We will be sending home a flyer informing all families of the upcoming Easter Raffle. We ask that all families please donate an Easter egg towards the raffle and purchase tickets at $1.00 per ticket for your child/children. Easter Egg donations can be brought to the school office. All funds go to the P&F to purchase resources for your children at the school. Your support is appreciated.

Best Wishes

Mark Miloro
