TERM 2, WEEK 7, 12TH JUNE 2019.

Dear Parents & Guardians

First Holy Communion

The Sacrament of Eucharist will be celebrated this Sunday 16th June at 11.00am. We pray for the students and their families as they prepare to receive Jesus in their hearts through the blessed Eucharist.

LifeLink Day

On Wednesday 5th June 2019, Mrs Camps and I accompanied three Year 6 students to the Archbishop’s launch of LifeLink Day at Newman College. Through LifeLink Day, our young people are encouraged to learn more about the very real ‘need’ which exists in the community, and how our Church agencies, through LifeLink, respond to this need.

Homework Club

We are blessed to have the support of volunteers from “Youth With a Mission” to help support the students of St Gerard’s Primary School at Homework Club each Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately, due to other commitments and overseas travel, the number of volunteers who are able to assist us has reduced greatly.

For this reason, and possibly only until the end of Term 2, it has become necessary for us to reduce the number of students who can attend homework Club each week. Names have been drawn out of a hat, and 20 students selected to attend Homework Club until the end of Term 2. Siblings of students who were chosen have been included in our total number of 20. Students who have been selected have been notified this week.

Dorine’s Anniversary

The 16th June marks the sixth anniversary of Dorine Prince’s passing. Dorine was involved in a traffic accident whilst riding to school. He was a much loved and respected Year 6 student and we remember him fondly. We offer our prayers and love to Dorine’s family at this time. The Year 6 class will attend the 9am Parish Mass in Dorine’s honour on Friday 14th June.

Kindergarten Enrolments 2020

Please let your family and friends know that St Gerard’s is currently enrolling students for Kindergarten for next year. Places are filling fast. I would encourage any family who has a child born between 1st July 2015 and 30th June 2016 to contact the School Office for an enrolment pack as soon as possible.

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser

Each year the School organises the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle at the Balcatta store. This year this fundraiser is Sunday 30th June. We require volunteer helpers. If you have an hour spare on Sunday 30th June we would greatly appreciate your help. It would involve one of the following tasks– preparing bread rolls, cooking sausages, or serving customers, whichever job you feel most comfortable with. If you can help out, please fill in the reply in this newsletter and return to the school office ASAP and we will be in contact with you to confirm your assistance.   Many thanks!

Best wishes
