Principal's Message

Principal_-_Mark_MiloroWelcome to the St Gerard’s Primary School web site. I believe we have a great school community that is built on a rich tradition which commenced with the establishment of St Gerard’s Primary in 1965. Here religious from the Mercy Sisters and Servite Fathers worked closely with families and the adjoining Parish of St Gerard Majella to develop a Catholic School in a new and establishing suburb.

Today we have an enrolment of over 200 students from Kindergarten to Year 6.  Over the years the School has had a proud tradition of assisting families far beyond educational goals. Catholic education is based on the development of the whole child and this is no truer than at St Gerard’s where the professional and dedicated staff know the importance of promoting spiritual, emotional, physical, social and academic opportunities for growth in each student in its care.

The School Motto is based on the guiding principles of the founding Mercy Sisters; Truth, Love and Mercy, where we endeavour, at all times, to live by these ideals and be living witnesses to Christ. This challenge is at the forefront of our thinking whenever decisions are made to improve the learning environment for our students.

We strive to ensure the children have a safe, positive learning environment where the needs of all children are met.  The School is well equipped with experienced, dedicated teachers and excellent facilities to provide a sound education for the diverse range of multi-cultural students. Current building works will add a new Library and Multipurpose Hall. There are before and after school care facilities as well as opportunities for students to participate in after school recreation activities including sport and music. A Breakfast Club operates daily in each class before school commences.

Parents are encouraged to be involved in the school at all times. The partnership between home and school is vital for the best possible outcomes to be achieved. Parents are invited to assist in the classroom and with extracurricular activities. Support is also encouraged through the Parents and Friends Association in their endeavours.

I welcome you to contact me at School via the office email, the telephone or via the fax with any queries. All contact details can be found on the contacts page.

I wish you well in your role as parent and hope that the dreams and aspirations that you have for your children will be realised.
